WordPress to Astro Migration

Music · Website migration
The new official site of an iconic Colombian Pacific band, migrated from WordPress to Astro without losing content or search rankings.
01 / Context
Grupo Bahía, one of the most important bands of Colombian Pacific music, had a WordPress 6.2 site built with the Divi theme: slow, hard to maintain and carrying over 2,000 media files, most of them unused. Its discography, its more than 30 years of history and its videos were scattered, and any redesign risked losing the search rankings of the old URLs.
02 / Approach
A fast static site in Astro that keeps all the band’s content, presents its music and history with a visual identity inspired by the Pacific, and protects its presence on search engines during the migration.
18 blog posts converted to Markdown, only the 148 media files actually in use kept out of 2,009, and 45 permanent redirects so no old link breaks.
A timeline of 5 albums and 56 tracks with links to streaming platforms, a featured release page and 12 milestones from more than 30 years of music.
Sitemap, RSS, canonical URLs, Open Graph and schema.org structured data for the band, its albums, events and blog posts.
YouTube videos that load only on click, a mobile-first design, a WhatsApp button and a rebuilt booking form for event organizers.
